A significant seizure of methamphetamine was made by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. The haul, valued at nearly $11 million, consisted of more than 1,000 pounds of the substance. It was hidden in a shipment that was supposedly carrying leeks.

The shipment was being transported in a tractor-trailer from Reynosa. A K-9 alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, and a non-intrusive inspection revealed anomalies within the trailer. A physical inspection then uncovered 395 packages of alleged methamphetamine.

Further details of the seizure are available from the CBP press release. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, at an international bridge cargo facility.
