A financial officer has been named acting chief executive officer of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. Joe Salazar's appointment was effective Wednesday, following the retirement announcement of former CEO Teclo Garcia. Garcia's last day with the organization was Friday, after more than 19 years of municipal work.
Salazar has over 15 years of public sector financial experience and brings knowledge of the community and economic development priorities to the role. He joined the EDC in February 2024, previously serving as an accountant with the city.
